Harvest Moon

En allant installer les panneaux de descente, température automnale oblige, nous avons réalisé que ce soir était soir de pleine lune. Mais pas n’importe quelle pleine lune, celle de la moisson.

« The full Moon nearest the autumnal equinox (September 23 this year) is called the Harvest Moon. This Moon is not just the full Moon that occurs at the time of the harvest. It is the full Moon that actually helps the harvest by providing more light at the right time than other full Moons do. In the days before tractor lights, the lamp of the Harvest Moon helped farmers to gather their crops, despite the diminishing daylight hours. As the sun’s light faded in the west, the moon would soon rise in the east to illuminate the fields throughout the night. » - Source : www.almanac.com, http://earthsky.org
